  1. I have a problem converting MPEG-1/MPEG-2/AVI to VCD or SVCD using TMPGEnc.
Although hardly notisable, there is a little jumpiness in the encoded file compared to the original. This problem seems to happen only with video files captured using my ATI AIW 7500 card. The results are the same with any resolution, with/without inverse telecine and motion search precision.

Is it any way to solve the problem ?

    Thank you all in advance.

  2. Hi antonv,

are your source and target framerates the same? TMPGEnc does a fairly good job of framerate changing, but it often produces some 'jerkiness' in the playback.

  3. If you mean frames/second, I thought that the result, in order to be ready for burning, should be 29.976 f/s (VCD for example). How else I would burn the file on VCD/SVCD if it has different framerate ?
Also I actually capture with 29.976 f/s, so framerate should be the same.

  4. I do mean frames per second (FPS)

If your source and target are the same though, this is probably not the problem.

Just FYI: you can have different target/source framerates - e.g. encoding a PAL (25fps) source to a NTSC (29fps) or NTSC film (23.976fps) format.

The reason I asked was that TMPGEnc will let you do it, but it often causes problems like the one you're talking about.

Good luck finding the answer - sorry I couldn't be of more help.

    cheers,
    mcdruid.

  5. Thanks very much, theDruid.
Only after your post I noticed that VCD template in TMPGEnc is really 23.976 and not 29.976 fps. Everything worked fine after creating custom template.
    Thanks again.
