  2. You can use DVDShrink - just go to re-author mode, select the title and set the portion you want to rip - it will rip to a playable vob.

Don't know what you can do from there - I did see that the DVDShrink might support combining multiple DVDs.

You can use DVDDecrypter in stream mode and rip just the chapter with the clip you want. Then open the VOB in Virtualdub-Mod, select in and out, then save as avi or frame serve to TMPGEnc for MPEG-2.

You can also try a screen capture recorder program. I think even WMV 9 encoder will let you do this. While playing the dvd on your PC, just hit record on the scene you want and save as avi.
Got my retirement plans all set. Looks like I only have to work another 5 years after I die........

  4. I did the dvdshrink thing .. and it worked very nicely as far as making a vob with just the scene I want in it .. BUT.. Ill be damn if I can find anything to open the damn VOB except COPYTODVD .. which will only write to a dvd.

I tried DVDDecrypter .. and I played with it for an hour .. I must be an idiot .. I can NOT make it open a VOB

I tried every util I have .. including virtual dub .. and nothing will open the vob file ... at least I couldnt finger it out.

WinDVD or PowerDVD will open vob. Think tmpgdvd author and dvdlab will. what do you want to do? turn it into a mpeg for use in another compilation?

  6. A capture card will do you better using standalone player.

  7. Thanks guys ..

I do alot of home movies for me and family .. ( what a blast ) .. and I want to build up a collection of one liners .. so that when my wife says something dumb on a movie I am making .. I can have Jim Carrie come on and say .. REEEEAAAALLLLLYYYY .. or some other silly thing like that ..

so I just wanted to build up a collection of one liners, and didnt want to have to rip a whole movie to get just one.

ok .. I got dvdshrink to save a nice little 3 sec dvdmovie (vob ) now .. I need to be able to change it into a avi or mpg ..

got to be an easy way ..

PowerDVD and other players will open it .. but .. they only save single shots, not 3 sec clips

    Thanks

Sure. Use Virtual Dub MPEG-2 mod (no other version will load VOBs).
    Hello.
