  1. I want to burn my avi files to cd, but some computers don't have the codecs needed to play them. Is there a way I can do something like embed them (like powerpoint does with fonts) and the burn the files so they'll play on most computers?

    Thanks.

you can't embed them into the Avi files, but you can include the codec on the disc when you burn it.

If you need something that will play by itself then use either MPEG or one of the WMV formats.

Not necessarily true. The wmv in my sig will play fine in Windows Media Player 9 on win2k but will not play on a MAC with windows media player 7
