dvd-r to dvd-r with nero6

i have been having problems with burning dvd-r to dvd-r with Nero 6.0.0.1
i have already searched for answers but im stuck.
nero starts to make image to burn then i get " burn process failed"

i've tried different source dvd-r's and different ones to write to.
i can burn from the iso files ive made with moviefactory with nero np. but when i want to burn from disc it doesnt want to know.
im not trying to do them on the fly.

i did burn some from disc on saturday when i was rather intoxicated (steaming drunk) and they work on my stand alone dvd player
i dont think im doing anything different today but its just not working.

please help a newbie out

i've have done some research and have came to the conclusion Nero is cr@p for dvd-r to dvd-r
i have just tried RecordNow Max and it's bloody amazing.
it wrote a drd-r to dvd-r in about ten minutes!
i've got an optorite ddo203and although it can write dvd-r's at 4x the most i have got using movie factory and nero6 is 2x
with recordnow i'm sure it is 4x but it doesnt show write speed!
i'm a newbie and thought i was doing things wrong but it wasnt me it was bloody nero
i thought that it was writing far too fast and it would be another coaster but it works perfect!
coz im a newbie i didnt know if u are burning u shouldnt use other programs but record now tells u that
i might sound as if i work for record now lol coz i've mentioned it loads of times like they do in american adverts to get in your head but i dont work for them
im a drunk scotsman that has had his prayers answered!
