  1. ive read all other posts pertaining to this and it did not weigh in my favour im trying to convert a pal dvd (progressive) 16x9 to ntsc dvd ive tried avs scripts and encoded a sample with the avs in cce but everytime i came out with a messed up video the black bar on the top was bigger then the one on the bottom and at times there was 2 little black bars on the sides.

    can someone please give me the right avs script thankyou for your time

    Got any more details? Was the DVD Anamorphic? What aspect ratio was it already (16:9 or 2.35:1?)

    Just load the VOB's into DVD2AVI, instead of the SVCD MPEG's. If your audio is 5.1 AC3, you can preserve the full 5.1 sound by using AC3 Machine (find it in the tools section) to convert it from PAL to NTSC. Just set the AUDIO | DOLBY DIGITAL menu in DVD2AVI, to DEMUX, not DECODE. You can also ignore the section about splicing the MPEG's together, since your source is DVD.
