I was watching cnnfn and the announced that hp is planning on rolling out an all inclusive vhs to dvd convertor for $399 dollars for sale during the holidays....
Anyone have any info on this?

If you use any desktop DVD Recoder, connect your VHS player to it and record, you get a DVD. Now, an all-in-one unit could be a combo DVDR-VHS system.
I wouldn't buy such a thing as if I have a DVD Recorder I would gradually say goodbye to the VHS tapes. And I also have a VHS recorder-player.
Also, any such unit would suffer from big size, as the VHS transport mechanism accounts for 75% of the size of a VHS recorder. DVD players/recorders can be made ultra slim.
Apart from the above, a DVD recorder, with or without VHS, for $399 is big news. But by Christmas, perhaps, it will be yesterday's news.The more I learn, the more I come to realize how little it is I know.
