  1. I have a Cendyne (NEC oem) DVD +R/RW drive that I purchased recently. I was able to burn a DVD (I think I burned it at 2x although the drive can burn 4x) and play it on my stand alone DVD player. I also distinctly remember I was able to mount and view the disk on the drive.

Now, suddenly, I cannot mount the disk on the drive anymore. I get an error saying disk not ready, please insert disk. I tried to write a disk, and it went through the motion without errors, but I cannot read to verify. I also cannot read any of the older DVDs that I had written using the same drive (at 4x). If I load a regular DVD (purchased movie), it plays fine!

So, what could be the problem? I am hoping it is related to some driver, or software. Would it help if my DVDs were to be written out in slower (less than 4x) speed (although I thought it was working before).

Any help is much appreciated. If there is a better forum to ask this type of questions, please redirect me. Thanks.

    Om.

Do the discs still play on the standalone DVD player? If so, then your Cendyne drive has an internal problem and needs to be replaced. Hope it's under warranty.

  3. Did you close/finalize the discs? If not then that's the problem IMO.

I had this problem with an HP and had to return the drive for a replacement (thank god for warranties)

It was a problem with the burner itself....it looked like it was burning fine, but then was unable to read its own disks....

the only difference is that the disks made wouldn't work on anyone elses machine either. It was screwing up the burns

  5. Yes, the disk that I had written out previously, still plays on a regular dvd player--so at point it was writing out correctly.

And I can read a regular (store purchased) dvd!

Does this still mean I need to return it (it is under warranty).
