  1. Either I am not looking in the right places, or i cannot seem to find this one.

I have a DiVX 640x256 (2.50:1) [=5:2] with AC3 sound and .sub and .idx files all together.

Now I want to convert to DVD MPEG, but keep the ratio, AC3 sound and I want to include the sub files on my final DVD. How to do this?

If I missed a guide or something, please point me to it, if not, can anyone help me out here?

  2. Just about everything you need will be found here: https://www.videohelp.com/convert

Remember, these guides are not perfect and often get out of date. Also they don't fit all situations. I suggest you read all applicable guides carefully and extract the various steps that suit your requirements, knowledge level and available tools.

  3. I have been reading about all available guides here and on Doom9, and have a relatively good knowledge about things, but this is the first time I will work with AC3 sound and original aspect ratio. For some reason, TMPGEnc wants to make a 4:3 file, whatever settings I use, so , like I said, I think I'm missing something...... Question remains, what am I missing and HOW do i do it?

  4. You will need DVDMaestro. I hope you have it since they don't sell it anymore. I don't know if DVDLab does subtitles. Anyway, use my guide to convert to a DVD compatible MPEG2, then load up MaestroSBT and load the .sub file and convert. Then, load the output into DVDMaestro.

    The divx probably isn't a true 16:9

What I would do is encode at 4:3 with boarders added.

That's pretty stupid, although I'll let it slide this time since it looks as though you lack just a little experience, or you made an error carelessly. What you should REALLY do, since you're going to DVD, is encode to anamorphic 16:9 with the 5:2 letterboxed inside of it. My guide includes all this, so it shouldn't be a problem for you.

Commercial DVDs come encoded this way........if it's (super)widescreen they don't go letterboxing it into a 4:3 frame. Then when you watch it on a widescreen TV it will look like TGPO.....
