I've been using DVDBackup and DVD2oneX with Toast without problems except when it comes to making a copy of disks I made from Tivo, burned to a Philips DVDR75. This disk has several episodes of a TV series, with a menu.
I seemed to now have figured out how to get a workable backup from DVDBackup -- it plays on Apple DVD player -- but running it through DVD2onex, I get a message that says "invalid media file" and the project will not play on Apple DVD player (there seem to be fewer files, too). (This was after initial attempts with DVDBackup failed unless I unchecked decrytion options... I was getting the message "Failed to decrypt Title Set 0. Skip it and continue or stop processing.")
If I skip DVD2onex, make a folder, create another inside it called AUDIO_TS and add the VIDEO_TS folder that DVDBackup created, I get this message when trying to burn in Toast: "The DVD-Video structure is invalid. Would you like to continue with DVD-ROM formatting?"
I should add that when the disk first appears on the desktop, there are two folders in it: VIDEO_TS and VIDEO_RM.
Any suggestions of how to make this work? Thanks much.

if you'ev made this discs already they should already be small enough for 4.3 gig dvds so why in the world would you run it through DVD2oneX? that reasoning makes 0 sense.. why dont you just make a disc image of the DVD and burn it in Toast as a disc image? if the dvd works now in your players then makin a disc image and re-burnin it as a disc image should logically be the course of action that will work.

Well, I suppose I would try to use DVD2oneX because I'm not sure what I'm doing....!!
In any case, I have now tried to produce a disk image using Disk Copy, and despite using a variety of settings, I always come up with an error message:
"Image Volume operation failed with error 999 (internal error)."
Any suggestions? -
yeh rip to a disc image using either dvd backup or osex.

Settop DVD recorders allow for a weird variable bitrate recording that isnt within the DVD spec, so any software attempting to make a compliant disc copy of such VR discs from settops will error out.

AntnyMD,
Thanks for the info. I wondered if something like that might not be the problem. Should I simply forget about it, or is there some kind of workaround that will allow me to copy these disks?
