if you are going to encode it to vcd or svcd, just try loading the file as is,without extracting the audio.

It might work - but each and every AVI has its own quirks, so don't count on it!
Easy way is to load the AVI in GoldWave, and save wav.
Hard way is to determine what codec's used for audio, then use VDub to do a direct stream copy of the audio track. Then use a stand alone decoder (matching the codec you found was used when encoding the audio) to decode the audio to a wav. As I like hard ways, I always use the VDub method...

  6. 10 days...

    Have you tried anything ?

What if you cut a sample of the avi with vdub and then extract the video and audio. How long are they? Are they in sync?

What is telling you the audio length? Windows?

What's the video frame rate? What's the audio rate?

Is this an acidemic question, or is there a real problem like sync. What if there just wasn't any audio for the last 10 seconds? Do you think they have to be the same length?
