    All video players such as PowerDVD, RealPlayer, Divx Player, EO Video, MS Media Player cannot play my SVCD mpg. The error was due to the absence of suitable codec. Please advise me where I can find such codec. I have installed AC3 but can't solve the problem.

  2. You need a MPEG2 Codec PowerDVD should have installed one. Install it again or double check. WinDVD, powerDVD are the two main programs people use to get/install a MPEG2 codec. There are others. Take a look to the left under play.

    yes-- as above poster mentioned ..

    best to un-install PowerDVD and reinstall it and you dont need to install a seperate ac3 codec either ..

    Thank you my friend!

    Installed MPEG2 Codec and tried on CyberLink PowerDVD XP 4.0, WinDVD Platinum v4.5, Window Media Player. Obtained the mpg file from SVCD MPEGAV folder as per instruction on http://www.dvdrhelp.complay.
    All returned fragmented picture - mostly green in color.

    At present the following codecs are concurrently installed in my WinXP puter :
    AVI codec;
    ATI Playback Codecs - vcr2;
    Divx MPEG-4 Video codec;
    ffdshaw AC3 filters.

    Neither have any luck with PowerDVD uninstall/re-install. The players can view other mpeg.

    Now I got it. I burnt the bin file into SVCD and click on the mpg instead of directly viewing from the hard disc.

    Thanks for the trouble !
