  1. So I just bought 8 Mile, and I would prefer to keep all the special features and stuff in there...

Anyone know what is the best program(s) to use? I rarley compress the whole DVD, if ever, so I am not sure...

    Any help would be appreciated!

  2. The easy way with fair quality would be to use InstantCopy and if you want the best quality then use DVDx Copy and split the original into two discs.

  3. I would use Nero Recode, But I'm sure many people would disagree. However I think it's works great.

  4. IMHO Nero is worth about as much as a bag as warm hapster dung. But there are people that use/like it (it's a free country). You asked about the best, well best is a subjective term.

The best is to buy a 2nd copy and don't open it No lost in quaility spilt to two DVDR discs (IfoEdit can do this as well as other freeware tools, IIRC DVD Fab is still freeware).

If you want to compress it to one DVDR the best quaility results from re-encoding using CCE/TMPGenc but this takes a lot of time and can get complicated (eg. the big3, see guides at doom9.org).

If you want a one step program to transcode everything for you you can go with: Instant Copy, DVD2one, DVDShrink or DVD95Copy. DVDShrink is freeware the rest will cost you. The general feeling is that IC produces the best quaility, but many think that DVD2One produces better quaility.

Truth is it depends on your source (size, level of motion, % of dark scences, etc).

  5. I gave my advise however the truth is I would just use DVD2one and be done with it.

  6. I use SmartRipper or dvddecryptor to rip the DVD then DVD2one to compress. DVDShrink works good too and its free.

  7. What's the best thing to select...

    Constant Ratio
    or Variable Ratio

    this is for DVD2one...

  8. The version I use doesn't have that option, but I would choose Variable Ration.

  9. I'd use DVDXCOPY if you want it to look as good as the original.

    DVDShrink or DVVD2ONE for compressing.
