I have AVI movies that are close to 700MB. When I try to burn them with Roxio Easy CD & DVD Creator 6, it tells me that it is burning at 1x and will take over 1000 hours. I have to turn off the computer to get it to stop. My burner is 1 52x and the CDs are a 32x. This is the first time my burner hasn't worked for me. I recorded one AVI file to a CDRW ok, but when I try a different file, it doesn't work. Is there something wrong with some of the AVI files? (Each is encoded differently; donno if that matters or not).
Thanks

At risk of getting pulled up on some rudeness or bias charge:
Your burner program sucks donkey sacks (and maybe your CDs do too?). Get Nero, some decent Maxells or Phillips for testing, and a spindle of whatevers cheapest for comparison testing - and rejoice.
At the very least get the free trial version of CDRWIN and a fresh CDRW. At least then it'll do single speed (or your burners minimum) but *not* take 1000 hours. 700mb files should go easy if your CDRs are of any quality, the official max on an 80 minute disc is about 703...
at the most extreme your hard disc may be damaged at the place where that file is stored (run Scandisk to check), or less seriously your file is still in use by some other program that won't let it be accessed!! (so reboot to free it!)-= She sez there's ants in the carpet, dirty little monsters! =-
Back after a long time away, mainly because I now need to start making up vidcapped DVDRs for work and I haven't a clue where to start any more! -

Thanks. I do have Nero 5 or something like that. It is the software that is supposed to be used with my Memorex burner. The CDs are Phillips and the hard disk is new and recently maintainenced (scan disk, defrag, norton checks, all that good crap). So I'll try Nero. If that doesn't work, I'll try that other thing (can't see ur reponse on this window).
Thanks for your help. Easy CD may suck, but for some reason I like it.
