  1. Im making my svcds to burn onto dvdr.
    Heres my process

    1. ISOBuster to extract from the cds, filtering m2f2 mpeg files.
    2. Tmpenc - mpeg tools- merge +cut - i add the files for move that "bustered" and then "Run"

Atthis stage i run the new file in power dvd once they have supposedly merged together so i can check that they are ok, to check sound and that the whole movie is there together. Ive hit on this problem alot that sometimes the whole movie isnt present, its usually the last parts of the last file , also sound disappears in the middle of the movie and is present in some other areas and in sync. Why wont it add all the movie and other times miss parts of the sound out??

I kepy retrying merge but same thing happens, ive succeeded in the same process at making some movies but now it wont do the same. I even trieed gettign the origina files again from the cds and then merge. I played the separate files from isobuster in power dvd before merge and the sound and movie is all fine, its just the merging process that is making life a nightmare, as if the merged file was ok i would Demux to get the two files and then run the audio file through besweet to convert it appropriatley. Then use IfoEdit to author the files to make the dvd vob files.

I really want to stick to this whole system as i find it really easy to do and it works on the dvds and players when i can get the proper movie and sound merged onto the one file.

Is this common and how can i solve this??

Hope someone has had this before and a simple solution

  2. TMPGEnc's MPEG Tools has been known to have audio problems when merging FILM (23.976 fps) movies.

If you still insist on using tmpgenc, then you need to re-encode your FILM (23.976 fps + 3:2 pulldown) to 29.97 fps + interlaced video. Tmpgenc will merge the latter fine..... however, the latter will be less quality because 1) re-encoding itself lowers quality somewhat 2) 29.97 fps has more frames to encode per second...so given same bitrate, each frame in 29.97 fps gets less share of the bitrate and hence less quality vs. 23.976 fps, in which less frames per second means each frame gets more bitrate and better quality.

    otherwise, try out other proggies....

  3. If i download a program that can merge my two files together and that the whole movie and sound is correct. Then if i run it through the tmpgen simple demux, will it work ok??

i'm not sure...but i believe not....those other programs that don't screw up the audio on 23.976 fps movies don't really "join" them...so after you "join" them w/ those other programs, you may not be able to edit them anymore...

however, you won't have the audio problem...

best bet is just to try..

  5. Ok so if i need to "re-encode your FILM (23.976 fps + 3:2 pulldown) to 29.97 fps + interlaced video. " how do i go about doing this in tmpgen???

Can you give me some help with it, or is there a guide to do it??

  6. I used another program to merge the two files together , again the whole files are sometimes joined or then dont work.

It seems im losing the battle??

  7. did you follow the guides???

also, try all the editing proggies i linked too..i'm sure one of them will work....

    -------

as for encoding to 29.97 fps, you will be losing quality

  8. I tried again and still got the same problems last night.
I havent tried the guides but looked alot and dont know whats best to do.
Do you think i need to change the sizes of the picture, is that what your sayign will allow me to merge the files as one and the be able to demux with all the movie together and sound in place???

    3.simple demux
    4.besweet audio file
    5. ifoedit to author dvd

During the 2nd stage when the movies are merged, the whole movie isnt always present when i check, or then when i demux the sound disappears for sections
Alot of my svcd disks now when loaded into ifoedit crash the program, however ive noticed that vcds can be converted to dvd easy with no problems

Can i convert my svcd movies to vcd and then run through the process thats error free to make my dvds ???

  10. There's a better solution than converting your SVCD files down to VCD then up to DVD (you'll lose lots of rez that way). Alas, the solution's ugly & a pre example of brute force.
Convert your stripped-out SVCD files to AVIs, join 'em with a DV editing program like Ulead or Premiere or VEGAS, then run TMPGEnc on the whole shebang as one whacking big AVI file.
I have had to do this occasionally. It sucks big-time, but sometimes it's the only solution.
The essential problem you are having, I suspect, is that TMPGEnc is VERY finicky about merging video streams. (Rather like Nandubin that respect.) If the video streams are not encoded _exactly_ identically, TMPGEnc will often either balk or leave out something crucial, such as your audio files.
Another, most costly, solution involves buying a program like M2 Edit Pro, which does a great job of merging virtually any video streams -- even entirely incompatible ones that MPTGEnc cannot handle correctly.
Sadly, M2 Edit Pro has a nasty habit of transcoding the video streams it joins without telling you, so that merged video stream often explode in size to double what they should be. The solution to _that_ is to run the whole SVCD-merged mess through TMPGenc once again and encode the whole blasted thing using 2-pass VBR to get the size back down. I've had to do that on occasion, and it blows.
THE MORAL OF THE STORY IS...
Compressed digital video streams were never intended to be edited, cut, merged, or anything else! Be thankful the software tools exist to do it at all!

  11. Ok so i rip the mpg files from the cds onto my pc, then convert them separatley into avi files, then join thema nd then put into tmpgen.
I have the program avi converter, will this convert th mpg files for me?
Then what free program can i use to join the avi files together.

Then when i load the avi into tmpgenc, how long will it take do do its stuff and create the files??
