Instant Copy 7.03.140; I'm having the the following problem with both Harry Potter (Sorceres Stone and Chamber of Secrets) DVDs.
Problem: When I choose to go from HD Image to HD Image the slide bar is green and at 4.31 GB (the Video Size: Automatic box is checked). I hit o.k. and I get the same screen back expect now the slider bar is red and is at 6.50 GB (the Video Size: Automatic box is still checked). I then click off and then back on the Video Size checkbox. The slider bar goes to green and back to 4.31 GB and then I hit o.k. This same screen pops back up again with the slider bar red and at 6.5 GB (again). By the way, I also tried using DVDShrink 1.03 (to re-encode); however all levels 1-8 show 0% compression and 6.83 GB expected size. What in the heck is going on? Any suggestions? Thanks in advance
By the way, I used DVDDecryptor to rip both DVDs.

not sure, but have you gone into the 'Details' section (bottom right) and selected 'custom resize' and 'DVD' options under the DVD tab?

Yes and with the same result as noted above. This is a strange one. I'm using a customized profile I built from the guide at www.mrbass.org/instantcopy/ I've probably used this profile sucessfully on 10 DVDs. The two HP DVDs are the only ones I'm having problems with. Also, the fact that DVDShrink shows 0% compression for all levels is strange. Am I missing something very simple here? By the way, I can use the IfoEdit method to split the HP DVDs across two DVD-Rs, however I wanted to use IC, or DVDShrink, to put it on one.Originally Posted by jbenj01

??? strange, yes..
on both HP's, i used the previous version of IC and it worked perfectly.. however, once i updated to 7.03.140, my custom setting do not 'stay' once i set them, i.e., i have to set them every time i open IC up.. ?? even with ICSettings installed.. not sure what happened there..
try re-installing original IC version and see what happens on HP.. other than that, not sure.. ?? -
Did that and with the same result. Luckily, I have GoBack Deluxe so I can reset my system back to the state before the uninstall.Originally Posted by jbenj01
Also, I tried using IC (no update and update 3) on LOTR Fellowship of the Rings and it didn't work either. I then tried IC update 3 on The Sum of All Fears and it worked beautifully. So I'm not sure what's going here? -
Look, I hate to sound like a jerk but...
What's going on here is that IC7 sucks. It's an outdated piece of software. Unless Pinnacle gets off their lazy butts and releases an IC8 sometime soon, it's gonna go the way of the dino.
If you paid for it, I'm very sorry. But honestly, just go download DVD Shrink.

As I mentioned in my original post I also tried DVDShrink on the HP ripped DVDs. It showed 0% compression (i.e., no compression) for all levels. Am I missing something here? Is the problem with IC or does it have something to do with the HP DVDs?Originally Posted by Gurm

You SET the levels. DVD Shrink doesn't do it for you. You have to pick the level of compression for each item.

download the newest DVDshrink at www.dvdshrink.orh it does ever you want and it's free

Sorry Gurm, your picture is kinda hard to make out...sorry for the mixup

I did HP 1 & 2 recently. Had some problems with 2 but could do it finally.
HP 1: Smart Ripper -> DVD Shrink 3.0 -> Nero
HP 2: DVD Decrypter (first ripped in file mode selecting only the main
movie files and then the remaining files individually) -> DVD
Shrink 3.0 -> Nero

I think I found a solution thanks to Bob W. (see https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=623896#623896 ).
Here's what I did.
1. I started playing HP Sorceres Stone in WinDVD.
2. I opened up SmartRipper and waited until it unlocked all the .vobs and transitioned to its main menu.
3. I closed WinDVD.
4. Selected file mode in SmartRipper, Checked all the files and Ripped Them. Closed SmartRipper.
5. Opened up IC and the ripped files. IC seems to be working just fine now. It has another 2+ hours to go. I'll let you know the final result.
Thanks again Bob W. for the tip in https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=623896#623896
