  1. I'm attempting to author a DVD using an existing VOB file for which I do not have chapter information for. The VOB contains 3 streams, video, AC3 and DTS. I'd like to use IfoEdit. When I attempt to add chapter values via a "CellTimes.txt" file, I find the chapters aren't created after reviewing the finished DVD.

    So, questions:

    1. Is there a method to add chapters to an existing VOB file?

    2. What constraints are applied to the "CellTimes.txt" file that would cause the values I have added to be rejected?

    3. Is there any DVD authoring software besides IFOEdit that support multiple audio tracks?

  2. Here's what I would do,

I'm guessing you're getting the VOBs from a DVD that you still have. I would take DVD decrypter and tell it not to seperate the VOBs (make one big VOB) then I take the VOB and rename it to .MPG. So now I have an mpeg2 file with an AC3 audio. I then bring the file into an authoring program (Ulead DVD Workshop) Add the menus and the chapters (don't worry if you don't get sound in Ulead, it will still be there in the end) and tell it not to convert the MPG and let it do it's multiplexing and VOILA! you now have a bunch of 1gig VOBs with AC3 sound with a menu you made and chapters you added.

    Just a thought

    I like his idea

    DVD LAB
    TMPG Author
    and DVD ARCHITECT

wil all work the way ULEAD does on that ONE BIG VOB made by DECRYPTER (make sure you're on XP or 2000 if the dvd is larger than 4gig )

but with these three..renaming isn't needed.. They will handle the big VOB direclty and insert chapters where you desire

I had similar thoughts and would love to use DVD Workshop to author, EXCEPT, I have two audio streams. I haven't yet figured out a way to add the second stream (DTS) using DVDWS. I don't think DVDWS works with DTS files at all. Perhaps I'm wrong?

You are right ULEAD would ignore the other audio streams
Don't know the answer for the programs I posted..
I would believe the architect program to be MULTI stream aware tho'

  6. The Ulead web page says it can do (LPCM*, MPEG audio) BUT if your MPG file already has the Audio in it, I don't see why DVDWS needs to toutch it. So as long as your file already has DTS and you don't want DVDWS to remux it for you, I think there's no problem.

    I could be wrong though
