  1. All of a sudden I keep getting the message "Drive is in use by another application" whenever I try to burn anything. I'm not using any other application, and I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Nero 6, but I'm still getting the same message. By the way, I'm using a Sony DVD writer.

    Can anyone help?

Have you restarted the PC, that normally solves the problem

Did you ever find a solution to this problem? For me Nero 6 is completely useless because of this - yet Nero 5 worked perfectly and nothing else has changed.

  4. I'm no expert, but try turning off the "imapi.exe" in the task manager. This should free up your drive, so you can burn. Later on, you may want to go into your services and turn the imapi.exe off completely.

  5. I had trouble with NERO 6 because of in-cd and disabled it going to start, run, msconfig, and unchecked it in startup. Now Nero works fine for me. Hope it helps.

  6. Sometimes music players like real one or musicmatch have access to imapi.exe. Try closing these. I get that problem all the time and I do that it and it always rectifies the problem.

Thanks. I'll try that - I think the proper way should be to disable CD Burning support for the drive in XP. btw This is a Firewire DVD-R drive so IMAPI shouldn't(?) be interfering with it.

For the time being I've solved the problem by uninstalling 6 and going back to 5 which works perfectly. I have to say that it's left me feeling VERY unimpressed by Nero 6. It's all very well having a program that looks nice and has lots of flashy buttons and icons - but it has to actually WORK!

Thanks, but neither are running. First thing I checked. Reboot no help either.

Thanks, but I'm not running InCD.
