  1. I am having trouble backing up a couple of my games (hot shots golf3 & nba 2k3)...i am using a tdk420n burner with tdk dvd+r's with Nero...using the swap magic2 disc, after burning those 2 games, the screen turns red instead of blue and still says to insert disc...i have great success backing up other games with this combo....is there anything i need to "patch" to these games, or what am i doing wrong?

There must be a better place to find out answers to a question like this. If I were you I would look somewhere else for a decent answer. www.megagames.com may have some info

Are both of those titles made by EA games, what do you use in conjuntion with swap magic e.g flip top lid, slide card, neo chip. Were all your other back-ups burnt on dvd+r or dvd-r?

As far as I know those games should work fine
like DVD said "all your other back-ups burnt on dvd+r or dvd-r?"

Could be a few different things

    1. Could be your PS2 laser is weak or dirty
PS2s are kinda picky when it comes to dvd+r media any ps2 that has a decent laser will read a good quality dvd-r with no problem.
Ususally version 5 and up will read dvd+r 80-90% of the time
1-4 dont havee a good dvd+r reading rate but some of the units have a good enough laser to do it.

    2. Could be your media
Same as above PS2s are kinda picky when it comes to dvd+r media

    3. Could be that the original disks are scratched or dirty
I have had an original game that I tried to backup that wouldnt work and I had to borrow 2 different originals from someplace else using the same burner and same media before I could find a good unscratched disk that would work.

If it were me I would:

    1. I would try cleaning my laser with a CD lens cleaner if available

    2. Try a verbatim brand dvd+r or if you have access to a dvd-r drive try a apple or verbatim vdv-r and see what happens

    3. If that didnt work I woud try borrowing a scratch free (or doesnt have many scratches) disk of the original that you own from somewhere else
and backing it up on a verbatim or apple disk

    4. As a last resort I would try using the cdloader disk with the verbatim or apple disk and see what happens

  6. All of my backups were burnt on tdk dvd+r's....and my ps2 is only 2 weeks old....what i found was that the game that i was trying to burn had a big scratch on it...although Nero said it was burned successfully, the laser in the ps2 didnt pick it up...i found another game of the same that didnt have a scratch and it works perfect....thanks 4 the reply's!

Ah it was reason number 3

Reason number 1 and 2 were out since you had a new ps2 and your other backups on the same media worked.

I had this happen with my scooby doo game neighbor kid killed mines

Glad to see you got it up and going
