Hi,
can anybody, please, tell me how can I resize resolution of AVI files from 720*480 to 480*480 before I can encode it with CCE.

Use VirtualDub. Using one of its filters, you can resize. Then frameserve to CCE and encode.

I would recommend AVIsynth over VDub. It will be much faster:

I would recommend:
BicubicResize(480,480)
