  1. (editted: new question)

In the Audio Tab on Instant Copy when you're choosing what to get rid of to save more space on the disc, there is an ACS5.1 and a DTS5.1

Is the ACS5.1 the Dolby Digital 5.1? If so can I leave the ACS5.1 and remove the DTS one and still get good surround sound.
I only use Dolby on my setup anyways, with my PS2 and my receiver.

    Thanks!

  3. DTS 5.1 is really, really good quality..hence, it takes quite a good chunk of DVD space...

however, you need a special decoder to play DTS, so unless you have that, the DTS audio track will just be silent.

  4. Genuine,
DTS is high quality like he said. there are some fundamental differences. Simple answer, remove DTS and your video quality is going to be much higher. DTS is typically like 800mb of space whereas dolby is more like 200-400 megs. Sounds is fairly comparible though. Why? DTS is higher bitrate, CBR (continuous, not any kind of variable bitrate) and has full sound spectrum on all 6 channels. Dolby (aka AC3, etc.) is VBR and has bass on the .1 channel and some of it omited on the other 5 channels. This gives a great space savings and overall average bitrate far less than that of DTS while having a comparible sound quality. That help?
