  1. Made another thread for the TMPGEnc. I have another one concerning the EO Vidoe thingie, if you can help with that here:
    https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=172542

In the meantime, I'll give this here a try.

    I start the program.

Dealing with one problem at a time, and using the Instruction Guide the first problem is:

How Do I Access the Project Wizard?

More problems occure after that, cuz I have used the PW once before, but since I'm starting from zero again... I need to find out how to get the PW thing going again.

Thanks for any and all help!

Here's another problem I'm having with changinge my AVI file into MPEG.

I go to the Vidoe Output... click Browse...... choose the movie and it says:
File "C:\MyStuffnJunk\GTO - the Movie.avi" can not open, or unsupported.

I can play the movie fine on all my movie players...... what am I doing wrong?

If you get an error message when opening like file unsupported or can not open or is not supported
or you get an empty(black) video preview window
or the video look wierd in the video preview window like green or purple or pink
Try first to change the directshow codec reader priority settings in TMPGEnc under Option->Environmental settings->VFAPI plug-in and right click on the DirectShow Multimedia File Reader and increase the priority to 1 or 2 or to the top of plugin-list and try open the video.

  4. I'm John Crichton"... the astronaut!" from Farscape. No relation to, Mike unfortunately. That and I'm in another galaxy currently.

Alright... I don't have TMPGEnc Plus... no option to select the Wizard.

Changed the Direct Show Multimedia thing to Priority 1 and at the top of the list. Same error message.

Is this because I don't have TMPGEncPlus?

  5. Scratch that... found another version on my comp that's got the Wizard.

Attempting to convert again.... I'll let ya know what turns up.

  6. Still no dice..... coming up with the same error message even after a quick trip through the Wizard.

File "C:\MyStuffnJunk\GTO - the Movie.avi" can not open, or unsupported.

  7. In continuing my bid for "Most Problems Had", I've also tried Virtural Dub. A program that's suppose to help with the Audio.

    I go to FILE
    Open Vide File
    Selec Video

    Then I get:

Couldn't locate decompressor for video format 'DIV3' (Microsoft High-Speed MPEG-4 V3 [Hack: DivX Low Motion])

Virtual Dub requires a Video For Windows (VFW) compatible codec to decompress video. DirectShow codecs, such as those used by Windows Media Player, are not suitable.

    *sigh*

    Saaaaay......... what?

  8. Download Gspot or AVIcodec from the tools section and open your video in it. It will tell you exactly what codecs you need, both audio and video.

  9. Thank you.

    AVIcoded says
    V. codec name - DivX v3 MPEG-4 (Low Motion)
    A. 1 codec name - MPEG Layer-3

    Snow now... do I want:
    ASF Codec(MPEG-4 V1/2/3) ASF / MPEG-4 V1/2/3 Codec.

    or

DivX 3.11 The old DivX Codecs so You can play and convert downloaded AVI DivX movies.

Btw, I can't thank you guys enough for pitching in like this. I've been plugging away at this problem for days now.

  10. Fine... if I can't get an answer on this, I'll just get both codecs. Be back with the results....

  11. Well, I'll be........... thanks to the "DivX 3.11" Virtual Dub is actually working......

More later.... after this begins the pain of trying to convert AVI to MPEG.

That should be about another week's worth of work.

More questions to come. And thanks!
