  1. Hey everyone...

So, can DivX files output 5.1 sound when the AC3 soundtrack is provided and re-encoded with the AVI??

Basically what I'm wondering is....Is there any way possible to play a DivX movie from a PC to my home theater and have the sound in Dolby Digital 5.1 if I have the AC3 soundtrack from the DVD??

I'm sure I would need a Sound Blaster Live 5.1 card to output it. But how and where would the connections out from the sound card go??

I'm on a mission to make a very nice DivX server for my home theater so any advice would be awesome!

    Thanks!

  2. There are versions of virtual Dub & Nandub that let you add an ac3 soundtrack to DivX movies, I think there might be a few issues with this though, synch etc.
    Just goto http://www.divx-digest.com
You would probably need the platinum 5.1 for output, although there is a way to output 5.1 audio with a regular "Live" card thru the SPDF out thingy.

The DivX server is an Awesome idea !!!!
