What is automatic tool link?
When you write the name of a tool such as TMPGEnc in a message, it automaticly becomes a link to our Tools list where you can find information about the tool and a link to download the program.
How do I disable this crap?
Select Disable automatic tool link when you post.
It doesn't work?
You must type the tool name exactly the same as in our Tools list or else it wont work.

I changed so it only links once for each tool in each post. I think it is enough. See https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=172551&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=

Man, that is one useful function, although I have to remember to type Virtualdub and not Vdub!
Willtgpo, my real dad, told me to make a maximum of 5,806 posts on vcdhelp.com in one lifetime. So I have. -
I have made it a bit smarter, spaces and - doesn't matter. Examples
dvdlab (dvd-lab)
dvd x copy (dvdxcopy)
virtual dub (virtualdub)
tmpgenc dvdauthor (tmpgenc dvd author)
dvdmaestro (dvd maestro)
dvdshrink (dvd shrink) -
Hmmm, but what about DVD labels?
(Okay -- how *does* it know?)
Very clever, Mr. Baldrick. I bow to your programming."Like a knife, he cuts through life, like every day's his last" -- Mr. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang -
I got this thread from trying to dissable the function for my guide :
"Making a multiple VTS with Ifo edit for a Menu produced with DVD Lab"
The link is broken twice.
Making a multiple VTS with Ifoedit for a Menu produced with DVD Lab
There needs to be a button to:
"switch off automatic linking for This Post" -
Until I have fixed it you could type like this
my tmpgenc guide
Add any bbcode around the tool name. -
Unexpected bonus result, newbies can create their own links.
"Art is making something out of nothing and selling it." - Frank Zappa -
I typed out a bunch of em as they should have been, but added bbcode for bold around everything (just in case). As a result, none of them worked. Editing the post doesn't allow fixing of this either.
Perhaps you could add a default "Enable automatic tool link" as a seperate option, and have it work even when you edit. Also if you uncheck it on edit, all of them go. All you would have to do to delete them all is search for EXACT URLs that get outputted by the tool link, and replace with the link text. -

I have come across a couple - not many - of posts where people didn't realise it was a link
Last one to mind is

From his comments I genuinely believe that Marius III did not see the link - I don't actually know, didn't get around to asking
but I then showed my boss the page, he said he couldn't see any links in the post
Turns out he has a slight colour deficiency - so in the interests of useability would it be possible to re-enable link underlines or change the colours so the link contrast is greater.
As a demo - take a snapshot of a post with a link in and dump it into your favorite graphics app.
Remove colour/ desaturate and see if you can see the links...
Just an idea -
If they can't see the links they must have a bad monitor...or very bad color settings...
. But I will see what I can do.
