  1. I currently have an old Asus A7V with a 1.4 GHz TBird and 512 Megs of Ram. My VCD encoding times for a 720x480 movie in TMPGEnc are just under double run time (45 minute movie = 1hr 25min encode time).

I'm looking at doing an upgrade to an Asus A7V600 and I want to use 512 Megs of DDR Ram.

What processor should I expect to be able to perform at run time (45 minute movie = 45 minutes encode time)? Is this actually possible yet?

    Thanks,

    BG

    Bgrieb:

My own encoding tests show almost a direct corelation with processor speed. So, provided you do not change any encoding parameters at 2.8gig processor would produce encoding times of approximately half the time it currently takes you. I have not seen any significant encoding time difference by increasing RAM capacity from 256meg to 512meg.

I am currently encoding SVCDs, using TMPGEnc, and I need 1hr encode time for 1hr movie. My system specs are:

    Asus A7N8X Deluxe
    Athlon XP 2400+
    Corsair 2x256MB PC3200 DDR (2-2-2-6)

    I hope this helps.

i got an AMD 1900+xp processor, 512 MB ram, and 1.6 GHZ, i can do VCD with TMPGEnc at real time, and CVD and SVCD a little bit slower than Real Time. But With Cinema Craft Encoder, Using One Pass i can finish a 1 hour movie in about 25 minutes making it a vcd. If i make a cvd or svcd on CCE it usually goes at speed of 1.769, which is pretty fast, so its almost half the time of the movie. ex: 1 hour movie will encode, in 40 minutes.
