CMC like every other brand does good and bad media.
The ones that are of better quality may go under i.e. TDK brand, the ones that are crappier may go out as no-brand name, thats all.
All manufacturers do this, including Taiyo Yuden so praised (by some) here. No one ever throws away any bad batches they've made, they just sell it under different name.
In general I trust Ritek. Bad I had bad Riteks few times as well.
People say Princo are cheap. Ive burnt few thousand of them and only once I had really bad batch of them where about half of the spindle produced coasters (or actually had lots of errors on them). Other than that I don't think I had more bad media from Princos than I had from Riteks.
And - as some say - Princos don't last as long? The oldest one I have is 3 years old, and I dont think other people have them (or any other brand) for much longer, so it is too early to tell, really. All the longevity informations are more like tell-tales, a speculations based on usually not adequate informations released by manufacturers themselves (and who would trust it?).

I'm a bit scared to buy ritekg04 now. It seems like a lot of people enjoy it and have good things to say but a handful have experienced problems with ritekg04. Is this just the ritek from a certain store or something? Are supermediastore ritekg04 any good? I was about to buy them but a lot of them were out of stock so I stuck with prodisc as I have had no problems with prodisc whatsoever but I do want to try out ritekg04 though

I think one important factor was left out...The recorder....If you know about the lasers movement then you should know that it's pitch as well as power is very important...the new benq with laser scribe has a pitch monitor and it keeps the laser at a 90 degree angle no matter where the laser moves other manufacturers may believe that a 88.9 degree angle is sufficiant and this causes the information to slightly shift toward previously burnt information confusing the player also I've noticed that it depends on how good the laser is in the player...movies I burnt play well on my machine....skips on someone elses machine...and lets not forget cleaning causing abrasions on the media...some more expensive disks can be cleaned with few abrasions left.....like ritek g04, However I've bought 50 inkjet printable generic for $15 and cleaning it with a soft cotton cloth was like cleaning it with sand paper!
Is what we learn indeed a fact, or someones opinon?

I think ritek rules...ultra sharp pic and I burn dvd's all week every day...in fact I sell movies...at least 20-50 a week and I've tried many types of dvd media including prodisc also supermediastore.com has linkyo...these have treated me well considering that you get 100 for about $27...Inkjet printables!!!
Is what we learn indeed a fact, or someones opinon?
