  1. Hi
Sorry if this is a n00b question, but i did search ths forums and guides..... didn't find a solution i could use

I have a 720x384 divx file, is there a way i can make it a 4:3 aspect ratio for my TV (by adding black bars maybe) w/o losing the correct height/width??

Can i make it 720x480? Even straight to a 320x240 mpeg??

Thanx in advance for any help...

----- are ther n e programs i could use?? maybe mainconcept (i hav it) or TMPGEnc??

  3. Use DVD2SVCD with TMPGEnc encoder. There is an option to encode as 4:3 with black bars added. I have done this before and it works fine.

The default will make a 480X480 SVCD mpeg, but the advanced settings let you convert to 720X480 (DVD) or half D1 352X480 (DVD or CVD) Here is a guide

One thing though, if the DivX has any errors in it the conversion will almost certainly fail..... In that case you will need to first convert the divx avi to to a new format. What I do is convert to an avi with Huffyuv video and uncompressed wav audio. The file size will be huge, like 30+GB so you would need a big hard drive. The reson I use huffuv is so there is no quality loss befor the mpeg encode. I use Virtualdub for this

  8. Before DVD2One and Shrink DVD I used DVD2SVCD for everything! SVCD's CVD's and DVD's. It's an awesome little front-end app
