  2. I think that M$ bullied Avery Lee into removing the asf support in that version, and not distributing it any more.

    Because of this, it may now be considered Warez? - I'm not sure if the moderators would agree.

    Have a look at this article for some interesting stuff about asf vs avi - and you might find a link in there which might interest you.

    Bear in mind also that ASFTools will allow you to convert (most) asf's into avi's without any quality loss. ASFTools is in the tools section of this site.

    Be warned, it doesn't help with new WMV's. At least for me it never seems to be able to open. You can use WME and 'encode' a WMV source to uncompressed AVI.
