ok here are the things that can be the cause

    1. your player doesnt support dvd-r.
    2. your player requires an AUDIO_TS folder, and you didnt put one in.
    3. You burned it incorrectly

what brand of dvd player do you have?
how did you burn the disk? What are the files inside of the disk when it mounts. THere should be 1 AUDIO_TS folder and 1 VIDEO_TS folder. inside the VIDEO_TS folder are all the video files.

    more info please..................

Could also be the media used. I've burned movie that were not usable on one media, but fine with another. My first guess would be that the player doesn't support burned media. Have you played burned movies in it before??

  4. 1. My dvd player does support dvd-r
    2. My DVD player has opened all of my other discs properly
    (eliminating the imcompatability disc question)
    3. The disc at issue works perfectly in the computer
    (eliminating the AUDIO_TS VIDEO_TS THEORY)

I'm still open to suggestions--thank you
