I have this problem when I hooked up Ilink cable to the USB port . Both of the programs does not recognize the input device even it's in vcr mode. Somehow the capture works with the software comes with the minidv cam but I got it limited to around 15 minutes.

  2. I have the same camera and have encountered the same problem. I also tried using Nero 6 which recognized the camera, but capturing the video resulted in a bad mpeg. The only solution I have found so far is to use DVDMovie Factory 2. It recognizes the sony and converted to dvd mpeg flawlessly. I dropped the mpeg on a dvd+rw and played it on my dvd player. There may have been picture quality loss, but I cannot tell due to the source. Good luck.

  3. You are much better off using the firewire port (i.e. i-link or DV out) of your camcorder. You will need a firewire port on your computer and a firewire cable. They can be bought for around $30.
