  1. I hope I'm in the right forum. I have a movie that is in Divx format. I want to convert it to a normal mpeg or avi that will allow me to play it in Windows Media Player. Now, I have to use the Divx Player to watch it.

So, I'm looking for a conversion to a non-divx format. I ultimately want to copy the movie to a CD-R to watch in my DVD player, but can't since it won't play Divx files.

I took a look at some of the guides, but I don't think I saw what I needed. I am hoping to find a simple program that will convert it and not one where I have to split the audio and video streams, blah, blah, blah... Does one exist?

    Thanks,

    CM.

  2. If you have the proper DIVX codecs installed on your system you should be able to watch DIVX encoded files in Windows Media Player. Check the Tools link on the left for DIVX codecs. What version of Windows are you using?

  3. I have Windows 2000. Let me explain a little better.

I want to copy my movies to CD-R's or DVD-R's to watch them on my standalone DVD player. My player supports just playing the raw movie files on a disc, but it will not play Divx files.

I want to be able to convert from Divx to a non-divx format to be able to play them in my DVD player.

  5. TMPGEnc encoder can convert divx to VCD (mpg1 352x240 29.97fps for ntsc 224kbit mpeg layer ii audio). You can get it from www.TMPGEnc.net
Also it's better to AUTHOR the .mpg file to VCD
use Nero, VCD EASY to author raw mpg files to VCD
    GOOD LUCK!!!
