  1. I've used the Dr DivX demo program to convert a few movies to DivX format, is there a way to re-convert the smaller DivX-sized files back to DVD format, so one can put several movies on a DVD+/- R ?? [/b]

Anything is possible. However, the quality won't be as good. And to fit multiple movies you will have to reduce the quality even further.

The answer is yes. However, the image will never be as good as the original and the worse your divx image is, the crappier the picture will be.

I would recommend getting Gspot and a bitrate calculator to help you out with the correct bitrate to use. Experiment as well with short clips to find out what the limit for bitrate encoding you should use. When using Divx material, there reaches a point where more bitrate doesn't give you anything....sort of like driving a race car in a 30mph zone...all the power of the engine and you're stuck doing 30.

for encoding multiple movies, multipass VBR will give you a better image for space, but the encoding takes a lot longer.

    hope this helps
