  1. I've been trying to encode a few movies, but the audio and video wind up being de-synched.
On one (DivX3 PAL), the audio is faster than the video. Do I cut the framerate?
On the other, the audio is deleted altogether. How do I fix this?
    Thanks.

Well, you start out by telling the gurus exactly what programs you use and what you did. Then they can begin to help you.

I used TMPGEnc to try and encode it (as it says in Sefy's guide), doing nothing to it before-hand, but when I was screening the finished MPEG before burning it to VCD, I noticed there was a lag in video when compared to the audio. I checked back in the source AVI at the same time, and found the video froze while the audio kept going.

I just used DivFix to mend these errors, but it deleted the part right out of the video! Is there any way to save it?

In Virtual Dub, did you select Video-->Scan video stream for errors?

    1) open the source file in Gspot (available in tools section to the left)

    2) post the audio and video info

we need to know if you're dealing with ac3 audio, xvid video, etc.

also, did you scan for and remove bad frames with vdub mp3freeze?
