  1. When I'm editing video, I'm loading Adobe Premiere and then After Effects and then 3D Studio Max, and then back to Premiere.

By this time, my computer is struggling soo hard, its almost faster to reboot my machine. I only have 384 megs of ram, but is there a way to reset or clear the current memory of these programs? Windows will store parts of the program in memory so it will load faster next time you use it.

GRRR ... When I reboot, all works fast, but after a few Premiere loads and an AfterEffects, there it struggles again.

    HI,

Use the contorl-alt-del key to bring up the windows task manager and then click on processes, here you can end tasks that are running , once you figure out which tasks are not needed.

But frankly you should get more memory at least 512, a gig would be preferable especially running the programs you mentioned

  3. Half the processes I have no idea what they are ... But I have closed these before. The computer runs slow after I have closed all of my programs ... ie premiere, aftereffects, etc.

I know I need more memory, I need a new computer for what I'm doing. But I have closed a lot of the processes and it helps, but still the harddrive struggles a lot. I've got two harddrives, but C will just struggle and when I hit C+A+D, it says my System Idle is at 98% when the harddrive is constantly running .. clicking away.

Maybe there isn't something to remove programs like that from memory once you close them

Besides more CPU and more ram, You might want to move all temp files and scratch disks to HDD other than the one that holds the system swap file.

    Also defrag often.
Got my retirement plans all set. Looks like I only have to work another 5 years after I die........
