I have a Toshiba SD-220E which has the capability of zooming while playing the DVD. Now here is the trick/question:
If you resize an AVI clip of a resolution 512*288 to DVD size of 720*480 using tmpgenc (or any other software for that matter), you shouldn't get any improvement in quality. All you get is longer decodeing time and a bigger file.
So, I have converted the AVI to DVD complient format BUT didn't zoom at all. The encoding time is much shorter and and file is smaller. When I play the DVD I use the zoom feature and get a full screen DVD with no loss in quality. That way I got more video clips on the same DVD with no quality loss.
True, in a standalone player without the zoom feature the movie will show small with wide borders but it works just fine for me.
Am I doing something wrong or did I just stumble on a great discovery ?![]()
