Is there anyway of making a PAL PS2 play NTSC discs?
Any way of hacking it? forcing it?
and no - converting the disc itself is not possible - it's a game, not a video.
Any suggestions?

First of all and the most obvious, you need to make sure your TV will support NTSC output (mainly only large screen TV's built in the last 5-10 years). Otherwise, you will get a black and white output.
The only way is to buy a mod chip or have one installed that will play other NTSC discs. This is the simplest way.
If you plan on backing up your games (which you will still need a mod chip for) you can find patches that will fool the PS2 into thinking it is a PAL disc, but you will still get an NTSC output, as not all modchips support different disc formats natively.
