  1. What's the fastest way to rip a dvd and then convert it to avi or mpeg(VCD). I was using DVDDecrypter and Moviemaker to convert it to VOB and AVI and then Tmpgenc to VCD. Is there a better program to convert VOB's to AVI? or to any other format so I can make VCD's. I don't care about the extras on a dvd like audio or menu's. Just the movie that can play back on any VCD player.

  4. Rip the disk to hard drive and convert to avi with xmpeg or DVDx. Both are freeware in the tools section. You can also use DVD2AVI to create files that you can load into TMPG to convert to vcd ar avi.

I use DVD2AVI. I use it to create a "wrapper" (avi) that TMPGEnc then uses for conversion to your chosen format. It's quick and easy and it's all in Sefy's guide.

  6. I inserted VOB file to TMPGEnc directly and encoded to any format. It always worked for me. The MPEG-2 plug-in should be with high priority in Enviromental settings.

  7. antonv, although it is possible to encode the VOB file directly in TMPGEnc, i'd more recommand using the DVD2AVI method instead, because it saves time on loading a huge VOB file (which is usually 1gb) into TMPGEnc, while DVD2AVI gives direct access into the file, using a tiny little D2V file

Vobedit will separate the video and AC3 audio from a (set of)VOB(s)

DVD Decryptor will separate the audio & video

    DVD2AVI will extract the audio

DVD lab will separate audio & video

    TMPGenc also

  9. I totally agree with you, Sefy. It just was once more time consuming for me to install DVD2AVI, so I adviced TMPGEnc.
