I know the part about cd labels causing backup vcd and dvds to start freezing up due to unbalancing the cd while playing, what i was wondering is the stomper brand cd labels more precise in applying labels and less chance of cd freezes and glitches?I have an apex 1500 and it works good otherwise, power supply checked ok and lens cleaned.

I don't think anyone is saying any particular unit is less precise than any other. They're saying that labeling is bad, period.
Heat causing them to eventually lift, etc.
Look for the thread "Oh so stupid..." He labeled 25, they don't work, and he's having no success removing them.
I'd not do it. I use a Sharpie. I do not believe the almost instantly drying alcohol can do any harm whatsoever.
If they're just not pretty enough for you, spring for that 90 buck printer, you'd make your money back over a few hundred disks. -
Ive never had a problem with VCD/DVD labels with any of my 3 DVD players. I also have that CD Stomper thing. I make sure that the labels are completely flat with no bubbles.

I use labels as well, but only the hub kind. Have not lost a disk since.

For labelling chores, consider the CASIO CW-50 for $99.00
it'll print a permanent thermal strip onyour CD (or DVD)
if you hav'ta use a paper label on your CD,
use The thinnest lightest weight you can find -
Looking good TOMMYKNOCKER..
and I bet they cost less than those expensive white elephants (the giant FELLOWS NEATO KIND) -
where can you get the hub labels and do you use a special prog to print them?
-
thanks, i am downloading the trialware now, by the way, do you use the clear or matte labels? also have you used the software to make dvd case inserts?
-
I use the matte labels, and it is the only program I use to make DVD case inserts.
Hello. -
Thanks for the replies, ill try the hub labels, looks like they are the best bet.

I use very thin Meritline High gloss labels and after 300 labels none have failed me yet and they look a lot nicer than the matte labels, very close to the original's.

TommyKnocker,
I ordered some of those hub labels from Sure thing. The concept is good but the product sucks!!! All the label sheets are printed/stamped off center and when printed nothing lines up. So about 4mm of my print is off the label. Also its not symetrically off becuase the labels on the other side of the sheet are even more off horizontally and vertically. Its like the pattern is offset and rotated slightly.
Have you seen this same problem? I still want to use hub labels but need some decent sheets with the labels stamped in the correct location. Anyone else make hub labels with the Surething print layout template? Possibly a company with better quality control? -
I've found that all labels and their software, print off-center. I've done the printer alignments over and over and they always come out messed up.I've resorted to (on jewel cases) learning exactly what will print where and adjusting it myself and then trimming with a razor knife to make it fit. javascript:emoticon('

I've had no problem with cd labels on CDs or DVDs. I really like the look of the hubs. Gonna try them next. -
Yep, I like the look of the hubs. I was able to painfuly make a few tonight by messing with the print alignments.
