Bush DVD2026 Hack

I'm looking to buy this player for my daughter who has a few Region 1 and Region 5 disks as well as UK Region 2's. Currently she uses my Cyberhome player for which I burnt a firmware "downgrade" to multi regionize it.

Bush (who I think are now Thompsons) list this player as "NTSC playback" Does this mean its already multi-region or is this a trick saying for a limited # of region changes before its locked to just one region?

If thats the case I does anyone know of a hack?

I have never heard of a standalone player locking to one region after a certain number of changes like PC DVD drives do.

Sorry Craig, I'm not thinking straight. I was thinking of some Computer Companies that badge their own DVD players.

Argos Shopping list this player as NTSC compatible in their catalog. I've just bought it and the manual states the "Region Code for this player is 2".

Have I been duped or what? What exactly is the law in the UK over selling DVD players that purport to be Multi-region. Is it illegal to advertise as such?

every uk player can handle the ntsc playback but this doesn't mean its multi region(although it most likely can be with a habdset hack).the reason it is ntsc capable is because japan which is also region 2 like europe uses the ntsc system for its tvs and so rather than making a dvd player for pal which is region 2 and a player for ntsc which is also region 2 they make them multi system capable and so can sell them in either countries.

Thanks for putting me straight.. I was somewhat puzzled over the issue but now I'm not although it does seem strange that Japan in the far east should be lumped in with Europe's Region 2 zone but I expect there's some good reason for that as well.
