  1. I have a 1394 firewire card for capturing video from my DV camcorder. I dont have any specific software programs that go with it just the card.
Here's my question: What software programs can you recommend that are easy to use that will help me to edit and then encode the video for burning using my nero burning software for DVD-R s to play on standalone dvd players? I read some info on Tmpgenc plus and Tmpgenc DVD author . Does the plus program include capturing my dv video and editing it or do I need another program besides those to do that. What do you think??Thanks[/b]

  2. Still playing with the tmpg stuff, can't help there.
Pinnacle8 is quite easy, believe they have demo at their site. if you don't have nero yet pinn8 doesn't need it.
remember to burn rw's first with any product, r's after you work the bugs out
    i compute - therefore i have heartburn

  3. DVIO is free & easy to use to capture from your 1394 card.
Don't give in to DVD2ONE, that leads to the dark side.

  4. There are a few software that can capture and convert and burn DVDs
    1) PS8 (demo available), good for video editing too, but slow to convert to DVD
    2) neoDVD (no demo), not good for editing but converting to DVD is done at lightning speed (it can capture from DV and burn "on the fly" to DVD-R)

  5. I have NeroVision Express and have used it to capture and encode and burn to a dvd-r and it's easy to work. I have pinnacle 7 dv version and have also used that but I was wondering if in anyone's experience if using the TMPGEnc Plus and TMPGEnc author would result in a better quality dvd-r? I heard on these forums that TMPGEnc encoder is really good but havent tried it so dont know if I can do better by using that or will it be just the same quality result as I am getting now with Nero and pinnacle. Dont get me wrong, the pinnacle and NeroVision Express do a good job but my question is if anyone has already compared these methods with the TMPGEnc Plus and can honestly say there is a big difference in the end result??
    Thanks for all the info.
