  1. Get this...

    I'm working on NT4.
I have no problem playing nearly all my AVI files.
However, for my last 2 downloads, I play the AVI in PowerDVD, MediaPlayer and/or DivX2.0 and it plays with sound and picture fine for about 3 seconds.
Then the picture freezes BUT the sound continues.

I added DivXAntiFreeze and still get the same problem.

I loaded DivX 2.1 and after getting the error message
"This file contains unknown audio data.....Audio data: Tag 85".
It plays the picture without freezing BUT there’s no sound.

So I checked the AVI file on GSPOT21 and it apparently gives the AVI file and my codecs a clean bill of health (pic below...hopefully)

    (pause for breath)

As DivX complained about missing Audio codecs, I downloaded Nimo50BUILD8 and fired all kinds of codecs at my system and still get the same problem.

    I know GSPOT mentions DX50 which I don’t think I have.
But I understand that DX50 just means the file has been encoded using DivX 5.02 Pro and using B-frames (whatever they are) and without b-frames the FourCC code is the usual DIV5 (or DivX ?) which I have.

So surely the basic DivX 5.02 which I have should be enough to play the avi.

    (my questions)

Do I really need DX50 ? If so, where can I get it from ?

Is it something more obvious ?
One thought would be to somehow make Divx use the Audio codec that Power DVD uses or maybe make PowerDVD use the same Video codec that DivX 2.1 uses ?

But I'm pretty new to this and have no idea where to begin.

I've been trying for about a week now, so all ideas are welcome.
