  3. I would say PS2, XBOX ask way too much for their peripherals. Plus I believ you have to buy an official remote to play DVD's on an XBOX but for the PS2 you can just use a controller.

I wouldn't go buying anything yet. There are 2 new playstations on the way and supposedly an XBOX.

There will be a handheld PSX using special discs designed by SONY, and the PSX will have DVD-R recording, HDD Recording and games storing, play PSX and PS2 games (of course) and I also believe it will have buitl in networking capabilities. They are set to come out early 2004 I think. You can wait till then and see what the prices are (if you can wait) because if you buy a PS2 at the moment and later want to buy the PSX you will not get a very good price for your PS2 if you choose to sell it.

PSX will be coming out soon (Late 2004). It is basically the same ps2 but with a new updated case, trayless loading, 120 gig hard drive (will work like a Tivo), built in TV tuner, network capability buit in (modem and broadband), sony memory stick slot in addition to the ps2 memory card slots, cd and dvd playing/burning capability, progressive DVD scan playback controlers and remote.

You can find info and pics of it on-line. Can not provide the link right now since I am firewalled.

The next PS home console the PS3 will not be released for a another couple of years at least.
