  1. I have a couple movies I copied over from my tapes. Two of them are old old old movies and the tapes are old, well I have parts of the movie were the volume is really loud and then there are parts were the volume is really low. what I want to do is make it all one level. I haven't found anything yet to do this. This is a really pain i nthe butt because you have to set there with your finger on the volume to hear all the lows and turn it down so the loud parts don't blow you out of the room. I would be greatful for any help. Thanx

  2. You can extract the wav file and use a program to set the max volume/amplititude(sp) (eg. cooledit). You'd have to do it all by hand. But it's not as bad as it sounds.

Just pick a threshold vaule, scroll thourgh the movie, and everytime you see peaks go above/below it, normalize to your desired level.

The maximize is a good option but for better results I would apply a dynamic compression... (I don't know if it exists on cool edit !?)
