Plays on PC not on Player(S)

I have made my first dvd and it looks great on the PC but no matter which dvd player I have put it in so far it plays back all flickery or the fields seem in correct or interlaced or wavey even ...hard to describe......this does not happen all the time only sometimes

Here are some specs

CCE 2.62 Pal 352x576
Video VBR 3 passes
2608 average
1000 min
9000 max

Audio Tmpgenc
Mpa 192kbs

I used DVD lab to author and burn have also created an image and used dvd decrypter to burn. As stated above it all plays fine on pc....

My thoughts on the matter are

Field order maybe incorrect i didn't use the correct field order. but if this is so when it be visible all the time
VBR when it is changing it is causing the problems
UDF mode....I will try nero 1.02

Or anything else some of you experts can think of

Is it DVD-R OR DVD+R it will make a big difference ,also what kind of media are you using to write to,and finally is it a dvd/rw disc you have to specify to get our help...

It is DVD-r and this error occurs on both rw and-r

for rw it is a laser and for -r the highly prized ritek g04 x4

I believe it happens when the bitrate spikes....

so good media (except for the laser but I know it works fine on my player)

Have you tried authoring using a constant bitrate (CBR)? You should try that and see if the problem shows up.

I am in the middle of compiling some test files

Theory: This was my original specs and i wanna see if the problem occurs in small clips

Theory ...the error may occur when there are spkies in the bitrate....as the error seems to happen when there is movement of scene tranistions

try getting the audio in true dvd format before authoring
in my experience its always the audio that f###s up everything else

because of the number of codecs on a pc they will play nearly anything

What makes you think it's the audio?

Well i have tested the files and still no joy. Maybe it is the setting i am using in CCE. I changed the field order (this seemed to improve things a little) but in terms of max bitrate set to 9000 or 4500 no difference...The files were done with out audio so i am lost....What would happen if the gops are set to 1 instead of 15 (pal)

As it turns out it is a fualt in picvideo codec when going to DVD specs

I would like to know if you solved your peoblem? I also recorded some footage with PicVideo and converted to Mpeg2. I was going to author to DVD but as you state the PicVideo codec has some issues?

What did you do to resolve the problem? Recapture? Rencode?

I had to recap using a differnet codec..huffyuy is good if you have the space if you have the hardrive space buti had to use morgan mjpeg ...but i am notusre of the setting to use werid stuff is happening to the endocded file ...deinterlace lines appearing I can't get nero 6 to read 800mb file as a standard svcd....aaarrgghh
