Converting MPEG-2 to AVI

Hello,

I need to convert some MPEG-2 files back to AVI, can someone recommend a good software? I am particularly keen on finding one that leaves the luminance levels untouched.

You could load it in virtualdub MPG2, then save as AVI, It's very quick.

If you can't find it from that link you should shoot yourself.
It Is a RAR archive, so you need to get winrar or whatever to
extract it.

Pick a location nearest you then download. You will need to download WinRAR (search for it in downloads.com) to open the file. WinRAR is sort of like WinZip. Sorry about FOOs response, some people hear don't understand newbies.

I was afraid I might get an answer like Foo's, and that's exactly what happened. I downloaded the files but they don't work; what I didn't know was that I need additional software to install the file.

I do have some experience but no one bothered to tell me additional software was required, until now (many thanks, g-shocker182).

Around here that translates to stop whining. Somebody
tells me that about twice a week.

I think this is all due to Microsoft training everyone to stop
thinking and expect the software do everything for you. The
Windows default settings to hide file extensions is a perfect
example.
