  1. I am trying to convert a Divx to mpg-2 (SVCD) with TMPGEnc 2.54, but no matter what I do it is a huge file that will not allow me decent bitrate. When I check the properties of the movie it states it is around 700 mb. How is it that a file this small will not fit on two disks as a SVCD? Is there a way to change the settings in TMPGEnc to make the file smaller without compromising quality too much? I have already clipped the beginning and end of the movies so that there is no credits or opening scenes. Any ideas?javascript:emoticon('')

  2. keep in mind DIVX (.avi extension) MPEG-4 has better compression algorithm than SVCD (.mpg extension) MPEG-2.

    ---------

    bitrate calculators...

enter in how long the movie and it'll tell you what bitrate settings to choose.

btw, NO CBR...use only VBR to encode

if you're still not happy with 2 SVCDs..then go for 3

  3. The movie is 1:41:56 long.

My basic goal is to get a good quality picture on one 80 minute disk. I tried VCD's but most of the movies end up being too big after encoding, at the very bare minimums. SVCD looked great but at the very least I need 3 disks. I am too broke now to buy a DVD burner so I am at a loss as to my options. Any Ideas?

Also, I was reading some on the new KVCD encoding. It seems quite complicated and time involved. It looks like several programs must be used to get the finished product. Do you have any input on this format? Do you know how to do it with TMPGEnc? I am rather lost about the whole thing.

I appreciate your help. Thanks! Brucejavascript:emoticon('')
