Hi, I was using DVD decryptor for the first time today. Was working fine but got to about 55% done on my movie(Terminator 2) and then it said there was an I/O error and had a bunch of other info I didn't understand underneath it. I hit retry but no luck. I ran into this same issue with DVDXCOPY but I didn't like that software anyway. I'm getting frustrated b/c this is the fourth time I have tried to do this movie and I get the same error.

    What should I do????

  2. If you are having the same problem with two different programs you may have a bum disc or a dirty disc. Try smart ripper. If you still have the same problem try different copy of T2. Are you ripping from your DVD drive or DVD-ROM drive?

Laddy, I am using the same drive it's both my dvd-rom and burner. I will give smartripper a try and if that doesn't work well I don't know what I'll do...

  4. That may be your problem. I also had trouble ripping from my DVD drive. I had intended to use my DVD-ROM drive, but put the disc into my burner by mistake. I couldn't rip the damn film with DVD Decryptor no matter how much I tried. It kept getting stuck at the same point. I tried smart ripper and it worked fine. I have since been more careful about where I place my DVDs that I rip.

The only thing is that smart ripper is not in English if you want to be able to download it from their site. Guess I will just have to guess at what it's saying.

  8. well, T2 has alot of seamless branching...because both the theatrical and director's cut versions are in the same set of vobs...

    ------------

i assume you're ripping in "file mode" and you have DISABLED multi-angle processing

    ------

also, play the movie with a software DVD player (i.e. winDVD or powerDVD) for a couple of minutes right before you're about to rip it.

Ok, Laddy. I went to tools and it takes me to the site for smart ripper. From there I click download and it says do I live in the U.S. or not. I do and it won't let me downld. so I click No i don't and I can download it but it's in another language at first. No big deal.

Here's the new problem that came up...it says there is no ASPI driver available so smart ripper won't run. What should I do???

  10. Check out the answer in this link. https://www.videohelp.com/forum/archive/t163695.html. See if that helps. Also I don't understand why your version of smartripper is not in English. I used the link in the tools section, said no when asked if I lived in the U.S., and the version I downloaded was in English!

the official version of windows XP aspi layer

    and you don't need nero

Where can I get aspi32 drivers for Windows?
Nero's ASPI driver from Ahead Software.

For Windows NT4, Windows 2000 and Windows XP:
Download ftp://ftp6.nero.com/wnaspi32.dll. Copy wnaspi32.dll to the C:Windows System32 folder or to your application directory (no need for reboot).

    For Windows 95/98/ME:
Download ftp://ftp6.nero.com/NeroASPIen.exe and read the readme.txt file.

More info can be found on Nero's download page.
Bart says: "This aspi manager from Nero is great, I can really recommend it"...

WHEN U COPY TO WINDOW SYSTEM 32 FOLDER. IF IT ASK U TO OVERWRITE THE OLD WNASPI32.DLL SAY YES

    Poopyhead

sounds like you don't have an aspi layer installed

playing the movie for a little bit is a method to unlock the drive before ripping. very common, standard pratice... in fact, if smartripper fails to unlock any of the DVD files, it'll actually suggest unlocking the files with a software dvd player...

i've never had any aspi issues, so i'm not sure if it's because i don't have one installed or not...but neither smartripper nor dvddecryptor bitched about it...

Window Xp don't have one already installed

like Windows 98 did (it was a cheap one though)

if you are using your dvd player to unlock smartripper

    you don't have one

if you install adaptec latest version ASPI for XP

    you don't have one, as

    it was corrupted

there's a trick you can do with the old Window 98 version of adaptec vers. 4.6 (i think that's the versions name) ASPI layer

that's what bob w calls forced aspi

he knows more about that then i do however

  15. well...

    i'm still using win98.

the latest dvddecryptor seems to work w/o having to play the movie first...

i only do so with an earlier version of smartripper that i have.

and, i don't remember installing any aspi
