  1. I wanted to make a surround sound DVD with all of my favorite DTS, THX clips, along with a few of my favorite surround sound scenes from movies. I have MF 2, but when I go to add video, it won't accept the vob files. Do I need to just rename the files to .mpg, or do I need to process them in another way. Noob question, I know, but I'm just getting into this authoring stuff, and this is the first time that I try it with vob files. Everything else I've done is with .avi, etc. Thanx.

  2. Yes, just rename the file extension from .vob to .mpg and Ulead will accept them, although you will loose any chapter info contained in them.

  3. I'm running XP and have yet to be able to figure out how to alter the ending of the file? Dumb question, I know, but could someone point out a simple way to do this?

  4. I also have Ulead MF2 and adding the VOB files by changing the extention to MPG will not work. MF2 will not recognise the audio of the VOB file, as most are AC3 and MF2 won't accept them. Your best bet is to demux the VOB file (I use DVD Decrypter for this) which will seperate the audio and video files to m2v and AC3 files. Then convert the AC3 to a wav.

    Search the forum and check the guides for info on how to do that.

  5. Here's how to extract the raw MPEGs from a .VOB (or .VRO) file:

    1. Open Ulead DVD MovieFactory 2;

    2. Choose DVD as the OUTPUT DISC FORMAT;

    3. Click the IMPORT DVD VIDEO (or DVD-VR) button;

    4. Follow the prompts.

    The raw MPEGs will load into your title list - with audio intact.

    Ahhh, all of my .vob files have .mp2 audio so the AC3 thing never bothered me.

    Doesn't matter if AC-3 audio is present in the .VOB or not.

    Ulead DVD MovieFactory 2's IMPORT DVD button will import it.

    If you don't *edit* the AC-3 audio, you can make Ulead DVD MovieFactory 2 pass it through to the disc that you record by checking the DO NOT CONVERT COMPLIANT FILES check box.

    If you try to *edit* the AC-3 audio, however, Ulead DVD MovieFactory 2 (the non "LE" version) will re-encode it to either LPCM or MPEG audio.
