I wanted to put 3 files onto a VCD but it won't fit even with overburning so I set off cutting out the ending credits and opening credits. But, it came out inaccurate! How do I get it accurately? It didn't even cut the intended part (but cut another part that wasn't supposed to be cut). Is there an easier way to cut? This is what I did:

    1. In "MPEG Tools>>Merge & Cut", I added the MPG I wanted to cut. I double-clicked it. On the blue scroller, I scrolled to the point where the first part ends and clicked }. Then I clicked Run.

    2. Then, I go to the end of the cutted part and clicked {, then at the end of the MPG file, I clicked }. Then I clicked Run.

    3. Then I added the 2 files in "Merge and Cut" to merge them.

But it ended cutting the wrong part. In the scroller part where you select where to cut, the display image isn't fast enough and doesn't show the intended video. Is there a way to cut it accurately? By saying "it's not fast enough", I mean that you know how in "Source Range", the display is always right on time so that you can cut at the exact frame you want? But Merge and Cut isn't as efficient as that.

Well, this is what I do... even I faced same problem earlier...

To cut accurately, slide to the part you want to cut and play the clip
and hit pause just before where you want to cut. After this you can
do frame forward/backward and select the beginning frame to cut
and similarly for the ending frame.

You won't get accurate position if you just use the slider to mark
    positions.

  3. Ok, when you want to cut something in TMPGEnc. just press the { key (but don't move the cursor) to get the beginning of the movie. Then move the cursor to wherever you want and then hit the } key. The range at the top should be 00:00:00 to wherever you cut it. I hope this helps.

This is a famous problem. TMP can miss intended cut points
by many seconds. (I think that's because of open GOPS)
    What I do is....
open the mpeg file in VdubMpeg and...
open the file with TMPGenc cut & merge.

Seek to desired place in Vdub and then TYPE IN the timecode
to TMP. Gets within a GOP for sure (1/2 sec)

TMPGEnc is great, but sometimes it acts up on files. When that happens, I have to use Womble MPEG2VCR. No way around it. Just the way it works.

  6. MPEG2Cut has a similar cut feature, and is accurate to the frame. You may wish to try that...

MPEG2Cut cuts at GOP resolution not frame resolution.
Enable statistics, and watch the timecode as you move
    through the movie.
