It was too late. I already have DVD Shrink and DVD2one. Not willing to spend more money on something that wasn't any better.

I have been using IC7 w/DVD Decrypter, also DVD Shrink 2.3 and Burn software. I recently tried AnyDVD and DVDClone and I can say for my own use in archiving this duo is the quickest, simplest, and greatest features for the task. I can now simply Clone the entire DVD and burn it w/Sony 500AX and 4X media in less than 1 hr.
DVD Decrypter and IC7 together would have taken 3+ hrs for the same operation.
DVD Shrink 2.3 and NeoStandard burn software take 1hr. and 30min. for the operation.
I'm sure Elby will continue to update and support an already fine piece of software. I look forward to their upgrade in the near future.
Make your own judgements by downloading the two trial versions of this software. AnyDvd can be used for a period of 21 days before you will need to make a decision if you wish to purchase or not. CloneDVD is available for a trial of 30 days. Use them together and see for yourself that they are indeed worth the money. At least in my opinion. -

Yes, Clone DVD lets you strip out anything you like and replaces it with a small "holding" vob to stop DVD players crashing if you select the wrong option in the menu - this includes soundtracks and subtitles. Having used both DVD Shrink and Clone DVD, I prefer Clone, although it'll be interesting to see what v3 of DVD Shrink will do.

CloneDVD has THE primary feature which other transcoders lack - selectivity. You can pick 'n' choose which things to remove. That includes - soundtracks (DVD Shrink does this too) in whichever language, subtitles, extras, menus, etc. etc.
It also inserts a blank grey placeholder so, as Energy80 said, things don't get messed up - other methods of doing this aren't as good, since they can in fact crash the DVD player (and unlike DVD XCopy it uses a grey screen, not a self-promoting ad).
It will REBUILD the menus to compensate for the things that were removed too - and it doesn't mess them up in the process. Overall I've been VERY impressed with it.
Combine it with AnyDVD and you don't have to rip... at all. This cuts 20 minutes out of the backup process. It also burns on its own, eliminating the need to fire up yet ANOTHER program.
My only pet peeve with it is the lack of control you have - there just aren't enough options. This sort of goes along with Elaborate Bytes' methodology lately. They have this very "our default settings are the best, no need to fiddle with them" mentality. More options that are more accessible would make this program complete, methinks.

I'm going to be getting my first DVD burner and plan on using the AnyDVD and CloneDVD combo...
I have a couple questions...
Does clone DVD let you preview what video "selections" you want/don't want so that you know what's what, or do you need to know this ahead of time (if so, can someone link me to a tutorial what will walk me through finding this out... I can't seem to find one). I really like the option to remove certain features, such as the entire movie but with the director comentary, or games and what not... I'd like to learn how to take full advantage of this cloneDVD feature.
How is the final product on cloneDVD... after compression and all. With the selective feature, will it give you a final compression percentage, like it does when you copy the entire DVD (e.g. 53%), so that you know how degraded the video will be?
Thanks for the info folks! -
Loutewiz said " I was shown by a friend clone dvd and I was impressed big time the transcoding and burning process took 1 hour and it just made instant copy look lousy when compared to time and burning quality. " Now I'll give you that IC takes longer but there is no way in hell anyone is going to tell me that CloneDVD does a better job quality wise than IC . Also IC gives you way more control than clone and will run just as fast in fast transcode mode . IC takes about 2 hours to process a 8 Gig disc on my P-4 2 Ghz , and this is with altered settings from IC hidden settings editor .
Keep it on the big cam ! -

Some payware programs are not marketed too much to the mass consumer, like TMPGEnc's TDA, but it is a great help to me.
So its like the old saying goes... "don't judge software by the coolness of the box or the price tag you pay." sometimes a good app cost some $, sometimes it doesn't. And also just because you pay $ doesn't mean that you will be happy with it to do what you are doing. (even when other say its great) IC8 comes to mind in this regard. Works great for me, but others hate the thing.
