    I was just wondering if there is any way to putt a film as long as star wars (over 2 hours) on a regular dvd-r?????

  2. Yes, it is possible, but you will need to either transcode or reencode. Check out the tools section to the left for programs that can do this for you. DVDShrink would probably be your best bet because it's free, but there are lots of progs that can do this. To fit it, you'll have to sacrifice some quality, but such are the laws that govern our universe

    if you are capturing yourself (like from VHS or Laserdisc), when you go to encode to mpeg-2, make sure you check the Bitrate Calculator in the Tools section here, and select a bitrate that will give you a file size that will fit on a dvdr.
